According to the statement no money paid to legitimate fundraising platforms launched by the campaign has disappeared.

President John Mahama

The campaign team of former President John Dramani Mahama has debunked rumours that donations made to his campaign has disappeared.

They claim such rumours are false and baseless and that the general public should treat it with the contempt it desrves.

In a statement signed by the campaign spokesperson, James Agyenim Boateng, it said: "It is the work of fake news entrepreneurs and their political paymasters who have been dazed by the huge momentum built across the country by the campaign of former President John Dramani Mahama".

“These political detractors have also been overwhelmed by the massive support of the general public for the John Mahama 2020 campaign as well as the very positive response of Ghanaians to financially support the flagbearership and re-election bids of former President John Dramani Mahama, and they are therefore doing everything they can to cause disaffection for the team,” the statement added.

Since the National Executive Council of the NDC announced the GHS 400,000 filing fee, the campaign team of John Mahama has been raising funds through various outlets for the candidate.

MPS and party supporters have reportedly contributed to pay the filing fee of the former President.

The team assured that all donations received will be properly accounted for and put to judicious use.
