Mahama must forget 2020; he’s never coming back – NPP MP

Former President John Dramani Mahama

According to him, the former president stands no chance of winning the 2020 general elections over the NPP and President Akufo-Addo.

The legislator said although he is not a prophet or a soothsayer, he is completely convinced that the NPP will retain power come 2020.

“In 2020, former President Mahama is not coming back, I am not a prophet of doom and not a soothsayer to see what will happen in the future, but for the few years I have been in politics, I am sensitive enough, my body can react to things that are happening. It is good for us (NPP),” Mr. Annoh-Dompreh said on The Big Issue on Citi FM.

The lawmaker believes despite the large wave of support for Mr. Mahama ahead of the National Democratic Congress’ presidential primaries, his candidacy would negatively affect the NDC’s chances in the polls.

According to him, Mahama is a “problem” for the NDC and will be the reason why he party loses the 2020 elections.

“A lot of them cannot voice it out now, because he is the choice of the party now, unfortunately. He is their problem and they cannot do away with him and yet they know that when they go to war with him at the arrowhead they are going to lose,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mahama is one of six candidates that have successfully filed their nomination to contest the NDC’s presidential primaries next year.

The former president was recently on a nation-wide tour, where he accused the ruling NPP of winning the 2016 election through lies and deceit.
