NDC MPs are supporting Mahama out of gratitude - Bagbin

Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, a flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described the support of minority MP's for former President John Mahama as that of mere gratitude.

He said the overwhelming support the ex-president is getting is due to the fact that he gave a lot of the parliamentarians appointments during his tenure.

He, however, said that he is unfazed by the seeming popularity of Mahama among NDC Parliamentarians and delegates.

Speaking on Joy News in Accra, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament said the verdict on former President Mahama’s popularity and competence has longed been passed in 2016 when he led the party to what many have described as an embarrassing defeat.

Alban Bagbin, in his bid to lead the NDC in the 2020 general elections, has been a fierce critic of President Mahama and the erstwhile NDC administration.

He also said he is more popular than Mahama but this is not public information because his supporters render their support to him secretly for fear of being victimized.
