He said the expansion of the railway sector would attract more investors into the country.

He said some investors had shown interest in investing in Ghana’s railway industry and expressed optimism that the needed resources would be provided to revamp the sector.

He noted that key stakeholders in the industry such as GRDA, the Ministry of Railways Development, among others, had resolved to team up in order to develop the subsector to help open up the country to trade.

Mr. Dombo added that the railway sector has played key role in the development of the Western world but the same cannot be said in Ghana.

"In Ghana, the railways sector has been a sleeping giant but with the correct focus, the right personnel, the right investment, we will begin to see a facelift," he said.

He stated that "first we will have an efficient alternate travel mode for passengers and off course exploit the revenue from supplying landlocked countries like Burkina Faso and the rest of them."

"So therefore we have a task in hand but it is a challenge that is surmountable. We have got the right minister in place, Hon Joe Ghartey," he added.

He said that Ghana Railway Company Limited and the Ghana Railway Development Authority shall form a strong partnership to ensure that the necessary infrastructural transformations are carried out in the sector under the supervision of the sector minister.

He thanked the President for reposing confidence in him.
