The Senior National Women’s Football Team of Ghana failed to reach the final of the 2016 African Women’s Championship, as Cameroon handed them a 1-0 defeat on Tuesday in Yaoundé.

Cameroon dominated played and created several goal scoring opportunities in the game.

Gabrielle Onguéné long range ball was perfectly saved by the Black Queens goalie, Nana Ama Asantewaa in the 25th minute to give Ghana a sigh of relief.

The Black Queens after the half time break defended too deep and got punished in the 72nd minute- Asantewaa in post for the Queens failed to grab a cross and Ajara Nchout robbed her of the ball and laid it into the path of Raissa Feudjio to score the only goal of the game.

Cameroon have set a date with the winner of the other semi-finals game between defending champions Nigeria and South Africa, whereas Ghana will play against the loser in the third place play-off on Friday.
