Black Stars captain scores in Chinese Super League

Asamoah Gyan came off the substitute bench to score for his Shanghai SIPG team in the Chinese Super League on Sunday

Manager Sven Goran Eriksson named former Sunderland frontman Gyan on the bench for the game with the Ghanaian coming on with two minutes to the end of the first half, replacing Lu Winjun.

Away team Shanghai SIPG started the game on the front foot and scored the first goal with Elkeson putting Gyan’s team 1-0 up after just six minutes of play.

Yan Feng equalized for home team Changchum Yatai to send both teams into the first half break level on goals at 1-1.

Dario Leonardo Conco restored the lead for Shanghai SIPG before Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan put the game beyond the home team’s reach with a third goal for Sven Goran Eriksson’s side.

The 3-1 win puts Shanghai SIPG on 11 points after six games in the Chinese Super League season, third on the league table.

Changchun Yatai are rock bottom of the league table with two points from six games.
