Ghanaian boxing legend honoured by WBC
Azumah Nelson has received an award from the World Boxing Council (WBC) for his contribution to the sport.
This is the second time Azumah Nelson has received an award from the WBC sanctioning body after drawing the curtains down on his career.
Other awardees on the night included former heavyweight champions Evander Holyfield and Bernard Hopkins and Light welterweight champion, Kostya Tszyu.
Nelson prior to his retirement has a record of 39 wins, with 28 knockouts, two (2) draws and six (6) defeats and held the WBC Featherweight and Super Featherweight titles for more than a decade
He has been actively engaged with inspiring Ghanaian high school students to focus on their studies with a programme dubbed "Time With The Professor", which he uses to interact with selected students in the various schools across the country.
Recently, he has been mentoring several young boxers including his young son Azumah Nelson Junior in the sport.
