He also used the press conference to announce his resignation from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking about sports development, Kyerematen is quoted by Citi Sports as saying he will invest “in world-class new generation sports facilities in selected competitive sporting disciplines.”
He added that his administration will “encourage the participation of the private sector in the development of sports infrastructure around the country.”
The 67-year-old also confirmed that he’ll be contesting the 2024 presidential elections as an independent candidate.
He said the party did not treat him fairly in the recent super delegates congress, in which he finished third behind Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate,” he stated.
