Emile Heskey’s company acquires stake in soon-to-be-launched Ghana Airlines

Zotus Group, a company co-owned by former England international <a href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/sports/football/emile-heskey-visits-medeama-in-tarkwa-ahead-of-their-mid-week-with-kotoko/wk0y975">Emile Heskey</a>, has partnered with Ashanti Airlines to operate Ghana Airlines.

This comes after the aforementioned companies won the bid in February 2022 after beating off competition from others and receiving cabinet approval for their partnership to go ahead.

When operational, Ghana Airlines will operate with flights to both domestic and regional routes, including services on global and European routes.

Heskey, who played for Leicester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers in a career that spanned over two decades, is the co-founder of the Zotus Group.

The UK-based investment firm describes itself on its website as a company that is dedicated to transforming Africa and third world Countries with a portfolio in Aviation, Mining, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas, Healthcare, ICT and Agriculture.

The soon-to-be-launched Ghana Airlines is owned by Ashanti Airlines and its financing partner Zotus Group, with the government of Ghana also having a 10% stake.

Meanwhile, the Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has confirmed that Ghana Airlines will be operational by June or July this year.

“I think the government took a decision to join the private sector to make sure that we have a national carrier. So far, I can tell you that the proponents have done so well,” he said.

“The regulator had to make sure that it is well branded. And they have satisfied all the requirements and they will soon launch their logo.”

“My information from them is that by the end of May, they will start selling their ticket and by June/July we will see Ghana airline, flying in the sky,” he added.
