Baba Rahman named in Chelsea’s official Premier League squad

The left-back has replaced Loic Remy in Chelsea’s squad for the 2017/18 Premier League season.

Ghana international Baba Abdul Rahman has been named in Chelsea’s official squad for the 2017/18 Premiership season.

The left-back has battled with injuries since the beginning of the year but is on the path to full recovery, having already started training.

Rahman injured himself during Ghana’s opening game at the 2017 African Cup of Nations, and has since not played in any competitive game.

The former Schalke defender was initially not on the list of registered Chelsea players for the Premier League season, with reports suggesting that he was close to a loan-move back to the Germany club.

However, a last-minute move to Las Palmas by striker Loic Remy has necessitated the draft of Rahman into the club’s list of players for the league season.

The Ghana defender will now most likely serve as a deputy to first-choice wing-back Marcos Alonso.

Rahman joined the Blues from Augsburg in a big-money move in the summer of 2015, but has struggled to grab a place in the club’s first team.

He has subsequently been farmed out on loan a couple of times already, and will be hoping to take advantage of his inclusion in the club’s list of players for the season this time around.

The left-back has however been left out of the Club's list of players for the Champions League.
