Majeed Waris, who excelled in the latter part of the season with French side Nantes headlined the list of players who didn’t make Appiah's final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 27-year-old has 31 caps, having bagged four goals in the process.
Other casualties are New York FC's Ebenezer Ofori, Asante Kotoko striker Abdul Fatawu, Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed and Numancia ace Yaw Yeboah.
The Black Stars have been camping in Abu Dhabi since last week for their pre-AFCON camping.
The four times champions of Africa on Sunday suffered a 1-0 defeat against Namibia in a friendly game.
The Black Stars are in Group F with African champions Cameroon, Benin and Guinea-Bissau.
They will kick start their campaign against Benin on June 25 at the Ismail Sports Stadium.
