Before the game they two giants had won the competition on four apiece, hence  victory for either side was going to be a new record.

It wasn't surprising that it needed a replay for Asante Kotoko to be attain this feat.

On Sunday the game was rained off in the 75th minute when it was 1-1, but Asante Kotoko who had lost two games against the Phobians- the league and the Ghana@60 anniversary game. were bent on avenging the successive defeats suffered this year in the hands of their bitterest rivals and they did so the hard way.

The brightest chance that was created was a cross from Augustine Safah which found Baba Mahama, yet his header hit the side post to give the visitors some relief.

The likes of Emmanuel Gyamfi, Saddick Aams had their turns, but they couldn’t break the deadlock.

Asante Kotoko fans shouted at the Hearts of Oak players to get them confused and that seeming had a toll on them during the penalty shootout as they wasted their first two kicks

Vincent Atingah, Hearts of Oak’s most reliable penalty taker had his kick saved by Felix Annan and one time the best penalty expert in the Ghana Premier League Robin Gnagne sent his kick over the cross bar, before Richard Akrofi scored the first for Hearts
