Hearts of Oak to silence critics

Heart of Oak winger Thomas Abbey backs club to work hard and turn negative comments to praise

Hearts of Oak winger Thomas Abbey says they will silence their critics regarding the clubs chances ahead of the upcoming Ghana premier league.

The domestic top-flight championship is expected to kick start on 20 February, 2016, however, the Accra giants preparations have been porous as many football pundits have cast doubts over the club’s chances in challenging for the league title or the FA Cup.

But Abbey who is currently the club’s general captain has opined that his team will not be affected by the pessimistic comments but their performance on the field of play will silence those critics.

“Instead of responding to the negatives which could distract our focus I think the best thing to do now is to channel all our efforts into ensuring that results on the pitch will do the talking for us to silence these critics who have no or little hope in us,” Abbey told the club’s News Paper (Hearts News).

The former Windy Professionals captain added: “Our work must do all the talking and that is where we will draw the inspiration from to tackle the games one after the other.  We only have to believe in ourselves and keep working hard at training to make us perfect and at the end of it all our work will be well noticed and these negative comments will turn into praises.”

The Phobains will open their 2015/16 Ghana premier league campaign at home to New Edubiase.
