Loosely based on the 1973 film of the same name, Westworld has built a reputation of simultaneously confusing and compelling viewersbut when you've got Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, and Ed Harris as just a few of the players in your out-there, twisty series, you're going to have an audience. 3) Black Mirror (2011- Present) If time was no object, someone new to Black Mirror might be tempted to binge the whole thing in one sitting. There are 22 episodes that range from 50 to 90 minutes (plus an interactive 'Choose-your-own-adventure' special). That's just an idea of how addicting this show is. If you somehow haven't heard of Black Mirror, it's a series that started originally on the BBC before moving to Netflix; each episode tells a standalone story of a living nightmare, inspired in some futuristic version of a technological advance we've made today. Because the episodes are one-offs, the talent is top-tier: stars include Domhnall Gleeson, Jon Hamm, Miley Cyrus, and Altered Carbon Season 2 star Anthony Mackie (who shares an episode with Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II ). 4) The X-Files (1995-2002, 2016-2018) Arguably the biggest show of the '90s, The X-Files made everyone aware of what just might be out there. The show's original run included episodes from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul writer Vince Gilligan, and while there are a ton of episodes, there are quite a few unforgettable classics in that bunch. The series returned in 2016 for a limited run, and ended up turning into a three-season revival. You'll see a lot of your favorite current shows in The X-Files; it was a pioneer. As the series tagline goes, I Want To Believe. 5) Fringe (2008-2013) For a while in the late 2000s, when Lost was winding down, there was a lot of speculation on what could possibly take its place as television's next huge phenomenon (we had no idea what was on the way with the streaming era). Coming from J.J. Abrams, Fringe was thought to be a possible contender; the show never quite became a massive phenomenon in the way that Lost did, but it did run for five years and garner an impressive and utterly-devoted fanbase. Investigating the paranormal, supernatural, dimensional-hopping, and everything in between Fringe is the perfect show for any Sci-Fi fan to get lost in. 6) The Twilight Zone (2019- ) Of course, you've heard of The Twilight Zone beforethat eerie theme song has been in your head in some form or another since the 1960s. But we're going to recommend that you check out the latest iteration of the franchise, the 2019 remake hosted by Mr. Jordan Peele. 7) Dollhouse (2009-2010) As the first Joss Whedon entry on our list, Dollhouse only lasted two seasons in the late 2000's of being jerked around by FOX. The show dealt with all the things that used to stop good shows from getting seen: bad marketing, inconsistent time slot, and thus, a lack of an audience. But with Joss Whedon (Buffy, The Avengers) at the helm, this show (which, like Altered Carbon, focuses on body-switching Sci-Fi) deserved better. 8) Counterpart (2017-2019) More body doubles! In one of his first roles after winning the Oscar for Whiplash, JK Simmons started appearing in this series that ran for a pair of seasons on Starz. A spy show that gets pretty heavy into the Sci-Fi (it includes an inter-dimensional cold war), this show features not one but two JK Simmons characters. 9) 11.22.63 (2016) If you enjoy Takeshi Kovacs jumping through huge periods of time in Altered Carbon, perhaps you'd be interested in going the other direction with Hulu's 11.22.63. Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, this series finds James Franco unintentionally traveling back to 1963, where he realizes he has a way to prevent the JFK assassination (among other things). 10) Mr. Robot (2015-2019) If the sort of ~cyberpunk~ nature of Altered Carbon is your jam, you could do worse than making your way over to Mr. Robot. This show had a massive first season, winning the Emmy for star Rami Malek (who has since won an Oscar and will soon appear as a Bond villain), but has since flown under the radar a little bit. The style of the show is very sleek, and like Altered Carbon, it's a joy just to look atit's one of the most stunningly shot shows of the decade. Creator Sam Esmail is endlessly talented, and the show's twists and turns make this one of the best shows you could possibly invest your time in. 11) Homecoming (2018- ) Based on the podcast of the same name, Homecoming is also directed by Mr. Robot maestro Sam Esmail. Starring Julia Roberts as a therapist in a mysterious program for re-acclimating post-war soldiers, this show takes place in a not-quite-sure-when time period, and is also features some of television's most stunning cinematography. 12) Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams (2017) We've gotta be honestthis show was basically Amazon's attempt to make their own version of Black Mirror. Star-studded (Janelle Monae, Steve Buscemi, Bryan Cranston, and Terrance Howard are among the stars) and with one-off episodes, this show is perfectly solid (for when you run out of Black Mirror episodes). Each episode is based on a different short story by Sci-Fi legend Philip K. Dick (who wrote the book that inspired Blade Runner). Stream Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams Here See the original post on Youtube Amazon Prime Video@Youtube

13) Dark Angel (2000-2002) For a couple years, Dark Angel was James Cameron's passion project. Similar to Altered Carbon, Dark Angel also focused on a hyper-keen and super-strong protagonist, except this one was patrolling a post-apocalyptic city. This was also the breakthrough role for Jessica Alba. Buy Dark Angel Here See the original post on Youtube convar HUN@Youtube

14) Orphan Black (2013-2017) Orphan Black was one of the more underrated shows on TV during its four-season run, which is a real shame considering the performance its lead actress, Tatiana Maslany, gives as 1, 2, 3...well, quite a few different characters over the course of the series. Like Altered Carbon, the show has as mystery that slowly unravels, and you'll find nothing to do but watch in awe the whole way. 15) Firefly (2002) We're back at Joss Whedon. This single-season space adventure series was so beloved that fans basically willed a film versiontitled Serentiyinto theaters a few years later. 16) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013- Present) Basically since the original Avengers film was released, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been humming along in the background. You enter the series through the cinematic character Phil Coulson, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent who, in fact, did not die in The Avengers. The show adapts for some of the movies' twists, and the weapons and world make it a breezy watch. Cameos from familiar Marvel characters make for a nice bonus, too. 17) The Boys (2019- ) Based on the (extremely graphic!) comic of the same name, The Boys was an (equally graphic!) sleeper hit for Amazon Prime last year. Something of a dark, satirical spoof on many Superhero character archetypes you've seen before, The Boys manages to weave in all sorts of superpowers, weapons, and scientific theory to go along with some absolutely wild gore and very dark humor. If you're twisted, we could have a match. You can thank producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for helping get this series to TV. 18) Almost Human (2013-2014) Another one from J.J. Abrams, Almost Human will scratch the Cyberpunk itch if you find it after finishing Altered Carbon. 19) The Handmaid's Tale (2017- ) Based on Margaret Atwood's legendary novel of the same name, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale isn't exactly sneaking up on anyone: the show has won a lot of awards, including 14 Emmys. If you're into grim, bleak, dystopian futures with just a trace of modern-day parallel, this is the show for you. Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss, always amazing, leads the cast. With a cast that includes Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina, Maniac) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), this should be a keeper. Stream Devs Here See the original post on Youtube FX Networks@Youtube
