Prices of sachet, bottled water to go up in June
The National Association of Sachet Water Producers has hinted of a possible increase in price of the commodity due to the current erratic power crisis.
The power crisis they say has taken a toll effect on their operations as they spend more on fuel to power their plants for production. It is unclear yet what percentage of increase would be announced as discussions are underway.
Following the recent 9% hike in fuel prices, they said Ghanaians should also be ready to pay a little higher as well.
Pulse.com.gh hit the street and spoke to some retailers and they said producers and manufactures risk running into production lost therefore if they fail to comply with the price adjustment, they will run at a loss.
According to them, the price had for a long time pegged at GHp 0.20 to the disadvantage of retailers and hoped the increase would help retailers break even in the face of overhead costs, including electricity and water tariffs, which are abnormally on the rise.
