Chief Brand Officer of Uber, Bozoma Saith John has challenged marketers to be confident about their products and service and also trust their guts in their marketing decisions.
She made the comment during an interview with the Director of Africa Leadership Initiative — West Africa (ALIWA), Kwaku Sakyi Addo, at the ALIWA Leadership Series held in Accra.
The outspoken former marketing executive at Apple Music urged players in the marketing industry to create an authentic relationship with their clients and get to know them better in order to be able to sell their products to the them.
Don’t be shy! Marketers cannot be shy; we are the loud, the proud ones with guts," she said.
Asked how she managed her get things done as a marketer, she said, “The main trick for me is being able to trust my guts. You can have all the book smart ideas to create marketing campaigns and making sure your audience understand you message but really what it comes to is the guts [to take hard decisions]."
Bozoma advised corporate icons at the event to develop a sense of urgency and purposefulness that will push them to top of the respective careers.
The event was graced by Vodafone Ghana CEO, Yolanda Cuba, gender activist Esther Armah and a host of business tycoons.
