According to Accra-based Citi FM, 10 of the cars have bullet resistant exterior.

The luxury cars arrived on a Global African Airlines cargo plane.

The erstwhile John Mahama government ordered for the supply of 42 specialised vehicles which cost more than $9 million about 8 days before they handed over to the current government.

However, President Akufo-Addo’s government re-negotiated and saved over $3 million from the $9m deal.

A source also disclosed to Accra-based Starr FM that the original number of 43 vehicles which were ordered was reduced to 34 after several negotiations.

“We could not abrogate the deal, but the company saw the need for re-negotiation and we were able to make such a huge profit for the country,” the source indicated.

The opposition NDC earlier accused the government of double standards since they did not go ahead to abrogate the contract.

However, the government also decided to avoid a judgement debt and therefore renegotiated and reduced the number and cost involved.
