Records available indicate that the nomadic herdsmen migrate from the Sahel region to West Africa to seek greener pastures in Ghana. It is estimated that about 200 nomadic herdsmen brought over 2000 cattle from Nigeria, Niger, Togo and Mali to settle in Ghana predominantly in the southern part of the country.
The committee is also to consider policy issues and proposed recommendations to the menace and possible legislation to be implemented.
“You can’t stop the people, we have to manage the situation, and these are people who value their cattle than humans. Their cattle engage in nefarious activities destroying large farmlands and water bodies killing, raping and injuring farmers, which always create conflict between the nomadic herdsmen and residents and that must stop.” He stated.
