Three teenage students from Ghana have won all award categories at the WAEC International Excellence Awards for a record the 5th time in a row.

Three teenage students made a clean-sweep of all categories of trophies at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) International Excellence Awards.

It was an all Ghana affair as  17-year-old Hasan Michail and two 18-year-olds, Kenyah Blaykyi, and Archibald Enninful Henry, won all all the three awards for the for the 2014 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at the Council's  63rd Annual Council meeting.

The trio, who beat over 2 million other candidates from Nigeria, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia, were honoured on Tuesday at the event was which held at WAEC's  International Office Multipurpose Hall, Ikeja.

Michail came first with eight A1s including English Language and Mathematics, first-runner up Blaykyi also made eight A1s, same as the second-runner-up, Archibald.

All three were given cash gifts and plaques.

Michail told Sun News that he is teaching at one of Ghana's schools while waiting to be admitted into the university to study Medicine.

He was also awarded a scholarship for his feat.

Pulse gathered that Ghanaian students have won the award five times in a row.
