Ghana international
Schlupp got sidelined in December and underwent surgery. The expected date of return for the Ghanaian player however pushed forward for his full fitness.
After making a substitute appearance for Leicester over the weekend, Schlupp expressed his delight for his comeback telling the club’s official website:
“I’m delighted. It’s been a long three months out working on getting back fit. I’ve worked hard and it felt extra sweet coming back and leaving on the winning team.”
Jeffrey Schlupp also talked of how his Leicester City believed in themselves before that late winner against Norwich City.
“Norwich came here with a game plan and it nearly paid off for them but we just kept at it. We kept knocking on the door and eventually we scored that goal,” he added.
“Respect to them because they’re scrapping down there just like we did last season, so we know what it feels like to be in that position.
“We believed in ourselves. We knew it was only a matter of time and when Leo [Ulloa] put that in, it was like a relief because we’d been going at them the whole game. With it being the 89th minute, it felt extra sweet. It was lovely to see him score that goal and he deserves it.
“I think everyone saw how down we were after that tough result against Arsenal, conceding so late on, so it meant a lot for us and I’m sure it meant a lot to the fans too. We just wanted those three points.
“If you look at our other games. It would have been nicer to get it earlier on and got more goals, but a win is a win and we’ll take that into the next game on Tuesday. The fighting spirit has always been there and we’ve had to show that again.”
Another Ghanaian player Daniel Amartey made his Premier League debut for Leicester City in the game against Norwich and Schlupp praised his international teammate for a good game in his first timeout for The Foxes.
Schlupp said on Amartey:
“The back four lads have been terrific all season and Daniel Amartey slotted in there and had a good game.
“When you’ve got guys like that at the back giving you that reassurance, it gives the guys further forward up the field that freedom to go and create.”
