‘They are not wiser than me’ – Kwasi Sibo hits back at critics after joining Libyan champions

Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has hit back at critics questioning his decision to leave Spanish football and join Libyan champions Al-Swehly.

Sibo, 28, completed his move to the Libyan club as a free agent after leaving Spanish side Real Oviedo at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Responding to the criticism surrounding his decision, the Ghana international said his critics do not know better than him and encouraged people to pursue their own ambitions.

Al-Swehly officially announced Sibo’s arrival on Tuesday, August 25, with the midfielder signing a two-year contract with an option for an additional year, according to reports.

Sibo spent the past two seasons with Real Oviedo and was part of the team that returned to Spain’s top flight.

Real Oviedo originally signed the midfielder from SD Amorebieta in 2024. Before joining Oviedo, Sibo had also played for Cheetah FC in Ghana, FC Urartu in Armenia, Watford, KF Skënderbeu in Albania, UD Ibiza and Real Betis B.

He made his La Liga debut for Oviedo during the 2025/26 campaign and went on to make 26 appearances in the competition. He also played 38 matches for Oviedo in the Spanish second division during the previous season.

Sibo's move to Al-Swehly follows the collapse of a proposed transfer to Turkish club Gençlerbirliği. He ultimately opted for the Libyan champions and has now returned to Africa after several years playing in Europe.

The midfielder also arrives at Al-Swehly after representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will be an important addition for the Libyan champions
