The day was Saturday, September 2, and the heavens had decided to shower their blessings upon the event, quite literally. Raindrops descended from the sky, but it did little to dampen the spirits of the eager attendees who had gathered to witness a musical extravaganza.

The stage came alive with the energy of young local rappers and singers, setting the tone for an unforgettable night. Their performances were nothing short of electrifying, as they left the crowd craving for more.

But the real magic unfolded when the seasoned artists took the stage. The 2020 Ghana Arts & Culture Awards’ Ghanaian Artiste of the Year, Ssue, left the audience spellbound with her melodious voice.

The Tagoe Sisters uplifted spirits with their gospel tunes, and highlife legend Pat Thomas transported everyone to a different era with his timeless classics.

DopeNation, Lion Judah, Hommie Blackus, Omama, Ortiz RWDA, Pizzamio, Indigenous Vibes, African Dance Ensemble, Dzidudu Orchestra, SoulStreet, DJ Spices, DJ Ikon, Foryna, Rozo, and Wisa Greid added their unique flavors to the musical feast, ensuring there was something for every taste.

Amidst the performances, the charismatic M.C., Merqury Quaye, worked his magic, keeping the crowd’s energy sky-high with singalongs and dance-offs.

But this concert was more than just music; it was the inception of the HoodTalk Music Festival, a groundbreaking initiative with a noble mission. It aimed to promote child wellness and youth empowerment in Africa, uniting voices for the betterment of the African child.

The DreamChild Foundation, the dedicated organizers behind this grand event, had a lofty goal in mind. They aimed to raise a provisional sum of $14 million to construct five Pediatric Clinics, ensuring that children’s health became a top priority.

The very land that hosted the recent Jazz at the Park concert would soon be transformed into the site of the first pediatric clinic—a place where hope would replace illness, and where the power of music and art would work hand in hand to uplift and empower African children.
