At least two people have been shot dead and five others injured at Mankesim, Central Region, during the installation of the queen mother for the area.

The shooting occurred after the installation of the queen mother turned violent following resistance from a rival faction.

The shooting incident reportedly threw the town into a state of a stampede with many fleeing to prevent further attacks.
Police officers were deployed to restore calm, according to the Public Relations officer for the Central regional police command, Irene Oppong.
