Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was born on May 23, 1968, in Ashanti New Town, a suburb of Kumasi and comes from Pakyi No.2 all in the Ashanti Region.

He schooled at KNUST Primary and later attended Prempeh College all in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

Dr Opoku Prempeh studied Human Biology and Medicine at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He was many describe as a student-politician and was elected twice as the local NUGS President of KNUST.

He later had his Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology in Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences.

Dr. Prempeh worked as a Medical Doctor in Ghana and United Kingdom. He is a Surgeon and a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of the United Kingdom.

He subsequently became the CEO of Keyedmap Security Services Limited.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh furthered his studies at Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, where he studied Leadership and Government.

He is currently the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency having previously been the Member of Parliament for Manhyia Constituency.

As a Member of Parliament, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has served on committees such as Health, Appointments, Special Budget and Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
