MTN Teen Choice Awards winner D.Drizz tipped as the next big thing in Ghana
D.Drizz who gained prominence in the industry with his hit single “Drip Drip” is gradually climbing the height as Ghana’s next music export after the success of rapper Sarkodie, Stonebowy, and new artistes like KiDi, King Promise and Kwesi Arthur.
Born on December 18, 1997, the “Drip Drip” hitmaker has worked with the likes of Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, Global superstar Davido, fast rising singer Oxlade and Afropop gem Fireboy DML.
“Drip Drip” Since its release, D.Drizz has received critical love but maintained a pretty low profile.
He put out a fitting “Drip Drip remix” and one more single before the year ends and he's planning to let go of a few more before a project coming in early next year.
In an interview the singer said that “I started music at an early age in my primary school, I used to entertain my mates as far back at Primary 5, my friends called me the little Michael Jackson because I was able to sing some of his songs and dance just like him.”
“Growing up my father used to play a lot of music at home from HipHop, Highlife, Borga Highlife and Hiplife…. So, I grew on those sounds” he added
The singer who decided to enter mainstream music scenes says he is inspired by his community to do more. “I am inspired by where I grew up from and the kind of upbringing, I had to excel in my music career in order to inspire the community with the can-do spirit”
The singer is inspired by the successful story of Nigerian Grammy winner Burnaboy, Wizkid global take over, Davido’s international collaborations and Sarkodie’s international appeal with the Twi language.
