Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, widely known as Mzbel has sparked debate on social media after revealing that she enjoys the company of a 19-year-old man and could consider dating him if her current relationship ends.

The 46-year-old musician made the comments during an interview with media personality ZionFelix, where she discussed her views on relationships with significant age differences.

Mzbel said she does not consider age a major factor in relationships and described the young man as “cute,” while stressing that she has not agreed to date him because she is currently in a relationship.

She added that she does not know how to date two people at the same time and would only consider a relationship with the 19-year-old if her current partner ended their relationship.

Her remarks have since triggered mixed reactions online, with several social media users criticising her for discussing a possible relationship with someone significantly younger than her.

Some users questioned whether the same reaction would follow if an older man made similar comments about a 19-year-old woman.

During the same interview, Mzbel also reflected on her first serious relationship, revealing that her former partner was 28 years older than her.

She said the relationship initially went well but became abusive after her music career took off and she gained fame.

According to the musician, her former partner became increasingly jealous and controlling, including taking her phone and physically abusing her.

Mzbel’s comments have sparked controversy online, with many questioning whether the reaction would be different if a man in his 40s made similar remarks about a 19-year-old woman. Some users accused her of benefiting from a double standard, while others argued that the issue should be viewed the same way regardless of gender.
