The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially opened nominations for members seeking to contest its parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency, scheduled for Saturday February 7, 2026.
According to the timetable issued by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, prospective aspirants are required to pick the nomination forms today, January 24, 2026.
The aspirants will be required to submit the completed forms on Tuesday January 27, after which aspirants will undergo vetting on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The primary is being held to elect a new parliamentary candidate to replace the late Mahama Naser Toure, who passed away on January 4, 2026, following a short illness.
Details of the nomination process were outlined in a press release dated January 20, 2026.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) hereby informs the general public, party members, and prospective aspirants of the following arrangements governing the upcoming Ayawaso East Constituency Parliamentary Primaries in the Greater Accra Region:
I. Filing of Nomination Forms
Nomination forms shall be obtained from the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Party
Completed nomination forms must be submitted to the same office upon completion
2. Delegates List
The official delegates list shall be made available to aspirants upon verification of payment of the approved filing fee into the Party ‘s official account,” Mr Kwetey spelt out.
3. Filing Fees and Concessions
Cost of Nomination Forms GHS5,000.00
Filing Fee GHS40,000.00
Female aspirants and Persons living With Disabilities will benefit from a 50 percenyt reduction on the approved filing fee
Female aspirants and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) shall be granted a 50% reduction on the approved filing fee,” he added.
The parliamentary election itself is slated for Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, at a designated venue within the Ayawaso East Constituency.
The party has urged all aspirants to strictly comply with the guidelines and to conduct their campaigns with decorum, decency, unity, and in the true spirit of fairness and internal democracy.
