Sterling has refused a £100,000 per week offer from Liverpool and has been undefined, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Gerrard who is about to play his last home game for Liverpool has however urged the forward to stay with the Brenden Rodgers led side.

"'There is no-one better out there than Brendan Rodgers and my opinion is he should sign a new deal," Gerrard said in a press conference on Thursday, May 14.

"It would be best for him here. But that's not something I can control. For the young lads there is no-one better to learn off.

"Brendan a fantastic man manager. The danger is younger players want it too soon and chase it and don't get that love and attention at other clubs as they would here. They become one of a number somewhere else."

It could also be recalled that Gerrard played a crucial part in Luis Suarez staying at Liverpool after nearly joining Arsenal in the summer of 2013.
