Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie Are Having a Blast on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Set
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier isn't scheduled to hit Disney+ screens until Fall 2020, but titular stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are already having a blastand letting fans know that production on the six-episode limited series has finally begun.
The pair showed off their considerable chemistry in a series of videos that went up on the @MarvelStudios Instagram account. What started as an Anthony Mackie Instagram takeover, and then became a Sebastian Stan Instagram takeover, eventually led to the two announcing that the upcoming series is now officially in production.
The series is expected to follow-up in the aftermath of the events of Avengers: Endgame, which saw Captain America give Sam/Falcon (Mackie) his shield, and Bucky watch on approvingly . As Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo told Men's Health in an interview , while Bucky has made progress in recovering from his Hydra-induced brainwashing, he's still not 100% up there, and handling a weapon like Cap's shield would probably not be a good idea.
Hes had his brain corrupted, Joe Russo said. Hes had trouble with that before, and it may not be the kind of person you want to trust with a new weapon.
And while Sam getting Steve's shield at the end of the movie might signify that he's due for a change in look or costume, the earliest poster that we saw for the new series following the pair's adventures actually showed a new look for Bucky instead. Gone is his long hair, replaced instead by a nice little high and tight fade.
In addition to Stan and Mackie, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will also be bringing back Daniel Brhl's villain Zemo (from Captain America: Civil War), as well as Emily VanCamp's former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Sharon Carter.
