By default this tool is turned off and you can choose who sees your location so, you don’t need to worry about sharing your location with strangers just because you are "friends" on snap. Your location only updates when the app is open. If you are not active for a few hours, your ‘Actionmoji’ will disappear. This goes on to say that the app doesn’t track users in real time. This features doesn’t work unless you have your location settings turned on.

What are Actionmoji? These are customised avatars or cartoons of yourself which is created through snapchats Bitmoji app. You will see Actionmoji of your friends and family on the map.
