GOIL inferno a test for Ghana – Togo President
The President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbe says the June 3 fire explosion incident at the GOIL fuel station is one of the most serious trials for Ghana.
Mr. Gnassingbe who is in Ghana to commiserate with the citizenry however was optimistic that the nation will survive.
“As it is done in African tradition, President Ouatara and myself had to consult one another and we quickly understood that there was the need for us to come and express our compassion and share with you the mourning and also clean your tears… This is one of the most serious trials that Ghana has had to undergo in its history but we believe that through these trials, Ghanaians will come out successfully” he said.
Over 200 people are reported dead while properties running into millions of cedis have been destroyed by the torrential rains that fell for over three hours.
Some people who had gathered in front of a Pharmacy Shop at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle near the Goil Filling Station adjacent to the GBC Towers to seek for refuge from the heavy downpour unfortunately lost their lives following a fire outbreak at the Goil filling station.
