In a statement shared instagram, the actress said the constant scrutiny of her appearance had “gone too far,” stressing that words have the power to affect people “mentally, emotionally, and psychologically in ways many people underestimate.”

Actress Mumin explained that her decision to alter her appearance was a personal one, made solely for her own satisfaction and not to meet public expectations or preferences.

She stated,

I made a personal decision about my body. I changed how I looked because I wanted to. Because I did not like how I looked before. I did it for me. Not for public approval. Not for opinions. Not to meet anyone’s preference

She further said whether the changes were obvious or aligned with what others would have chosen was irrelevant, emphasising that it was her choice.

She added,

Whether my BBL is obvious or not, whether it fits what you would have chosen for yourself or not, it is what I wanted. And that should be enough

Salma Mumin condemned what she described as the transformation of personal opinions into cruelty, mockery, and constant judgement, noting that such behaviour chips away at people’s peace and wellbeing.

What is not acceptable is turning personal opinions into cruelty, mockery, and constant judgement. No one deserves to be spoken about in ways that chip away at their peace and wellbeing

She called on the public to be more mindful of the impact of their words and to engage with greater care and humanity.

I ask that people begin to understand the weight their words carry. Speak with more care. Speak with more humanity

Enough has been said. I have done what I wanted for myself, and I deserve to live in peace with that choice

Mumin said she stood firmly by her decision and deserved to live peacefully with the choice she had made.
