Spokesperson for the aggrieved nurses, Yakubu Mikdad Kakuma said they are giving government two weeks ultimatum to address their concerns.

“What mostly baffles us is that the Ministry of Health is being selective in our postings with a criterion best known to themselves and God which we the unposted enrolled Nurses see as being gravely unfair because our very colleagues we sat and wrote the NMC licensure exams are being posted and have even started receiving salaries for several months now and what we only get are flimsy excuses and reassurances anytime we try to enquire on the issues regarding stands as unemployed enrolled Nurses of the north from both regional health directorate and the ministry of health,” he told Accra-based Citi FM.

Meanwhile, scores of unemployed nurses from across the country had earlier picketed at the Flag-Staff House to express their frustrations.

However, after a promise by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu that their employment will be due on October 23, several of the graduate nurses are still at home.
