Ghana is safe - Quartey
Deputy Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, said even though there have been security challenges in the country it does not mean Ghana is no longer safe.

In an interview with Accra FM, Mr Quartey explained that the government has plans in place to resource the Ghana Police Service with adequate logistics for them to fight crime extensively.
“We don’t have a security breakdown in Ghana, we all have a collective responsibility not to incite and create fear and panic in the country although we have been met with some unfortunate incidents this year.”
“The police, national security and all the other security agencies are working very hard to protect Ghanaians. Plans are also far-advanced to ensure the Ghana Police is resourced well enough to protect the people of this country,” he added.

His comments come after an attack on the Kwabenya police station by armed robbers.
The incident happened Sunday dawn when a gang stormed the Kwabenya District Police Headquarters to free suspected armed robbers who were in custody.
The assailants shot and killed the policeman on duty, before freeing seven other suspected criminals who were being held in the cells.
However, Mr Quartey said that investigations are underway to find out those behind the attack on the Kwabenya Police post.

“Investigations are underway. Much is dependent on good, reliable and credible information from the public.”
The issue has sparked fear among many Ghanaians, especially with the suspects now roaming the streets.
However, addressing the press, the Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge, called on the public to remain calm.
