Drunk passenger assaults Ghanaian woman on KLM flight as crew stood back

Akua Gyekye said the flight crew stood back and did nothing to stop the man as she was physically assaulted, sexually harassed and verbally abused.

In a post on Facebook, Mrs Gyekye said:“This drunk man assaulted me this morning on my KLM flight from Kigali to Amsterdam. He was drunk, pushed into my physical space, tried to kiss me, called me an asshole and said "I should get back to the bush!" Lol. Really? My friend...that's where we just came from and believe me, I go back gladly. The crew stood back and did nothing.”

Meanwhile the Royal Dutch Airline has commented on the incident after it attention was drawn to it by a Ghanaian blogger Jamila Abdulai.

“We take this matter seriously and we already advised everyone who contacted us, to tell the passenger to contact us directly,” the parent company of KLM, Royal Dutch Airlines said.

Meanwhile KLM has been criticised by it handling of the assault situation on twitter.

One user tweeted: "No no, not acceptable at all. KLM please operate more professionally. Your staff needs reprimanding and Ms. Gyekeye should be compensated."

And another said: "KLM, the thing is - not only did she have to suffer this, it could have been any one of us. It was your flight & your staff. We need more.
