Mr. Bani in an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh said he believes his successor would do a good job as Interior Minister.

“[Ambrose Derry] is a very serious character. You can see his competitiveness. From his background he is a strong Catholic, human rights lawyer and a legal expert. I have no doubt that he is going to handle the Ministry of Interior so well,” he emphasized.

According to him, he has known Ambrose Dery since university days and they are very good friends.

"We went to the same university; we even have pet names. And we have known each other for a very long time.”

Prosper Bani is of the view that President Nana Akufo-Addo made a good decision by appointing Mr. Dery to succeed him as the Interior Minister.

“Ambrose is an experienced politician and lawyer. President Nana Addo in his wisdom must have accessed him in terms of his abilities to handle the ministry”

However, he cautioned his successor “to keep his eyes on the board”.

Prosper Bani served as Ghana’s Interior Minister between February 2016 and January 7th 2017.
