14 NPP supporters arrested

The men, in their attempt to take leadership of the area, were said to have injured many and destroyed properties in the process.

Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge told Accra-based Joy FM that the arrested people include 11 men and three women.

She said the police are currently on the hunt for one of the gang leaders who has escaped.

Old Fadama is known to be one of the trouble spots in the country following the violence that greeted it after the 2008 elections.

Some NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters clashed after the victory of the late President Professor John Evans Mills in that year.

The NDC youth reportedly drove out the NPP supporters from their homes, claiming they went through the same situation when the NPP won in 2000.Meanwhile, police have tightened security in the area to prevent any future occurrence.
