The leader of the Muslim youth group, Sadaqa train, Sherrif Shaban has said he is not willing to shut down his charity organization Sadaqa train, after members of the group have been confirmed to have joined the Islamic States based in Iraq and Syria.

“No. I don’t believe shutting down the group is a good way. That will mean giving credence to the claims that we are for ISIS when we are not,” he said in an interview with Starr News.

Some members of the Sadaqa train, Nazir Nortei Alema, Shakira Mohammed both graduates of the Kwame Nkrumah University, and one Bedan Dialo have been confirmed a three out of ten Ghanaian Muslim youths who have been recruited into ISIS.

Shaban who calls himself the Ameer of the Sadaqa train told Morning Starr host, Kafui Dey on Friday “these news came as a surprise to us.”

“We feel worried about these happenings but we should also be careful not to box people who just want to do some good in society into stereotypical corners causing them to be disenchanted and vulnerable to all kinds of lure as well," he said while defending why he is not willing to shut down the group for his members’ sake.

He said they have realized they have been negligent with the processes involved in securing membership for their charity activities hence their recent resolve to reconsider their approach.

“It is open, there is no membership forms. So if a friend tells a friend come around and let’s go on this trip and we are okay…all we need is the volunteerism. But that clearly hasn’t worked for us.

“I am willing to speak to National Security if they invite me in because like I said, we have nothing to hide,” Shaban said.
