The Peoples National Convention, (PNC) is considering the proposal by the New Patriotic Party to join them in the quest to put pressure on the Electoral Commission to prepare a new voters' register.

The party is however worried that the major political parties; ie the NDC and the NPP will repeat the same mistake of allowing even minors to register in the strongholds.

PNC chairman in an interview with Pulse.com.gh said "It is a right call but if we can discipline ourselves to do what is right then we can end up cleaning the register."

The NPP is trying to get the support of all the minor political parties to impress on the EC to replace the old register which the described as bloated.

The governing NDC on the other hand has rubbished the call by the NPP describing the voters' register as the most credible register since independence.

The NPP has on various occasions called for a new register. Recently the party's flag bearer Nana Akufo -Addo called on the new Electoral Commission Chair to give the county a fresh start by preparing a new register.

Last week the NPP general secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong in a letter to the EC wrote "a fresh registration will go a long way to rebuild confidence in the electoral process and this is essential for the successful conduct of a peaceful, free, and fair election in 2016."

The PNC said it will think through the NPP's proposal and respond by the end of the week.
