It has been a long-held view by some members of the NDC who are opposed to the former President’s consistent criticisms of the party even in government, but the argument has been rekindled by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr’s article couple of days which was critical of Mr. Rawlings and former Attorney General, Martin Amidu.

Though some party members have called for expulsion of the two bigshots from the party, Dr. Asamoah has taken the advocacy to a different level.

Speaking on Accra-based Joy Fm, he tried to prove why he and many others think that Former President Rawlings Could not have been the founder of the opposition NDC.

Dr. Asamoah said “I dealt with the application of the NDC to the Electoral Commission for registration. The law at the time, and still the law is the same, is that you must have founders from the different districts... to sign the papers.

“I can show you the duplicate of the papers. They are here right now because I dealt with that whole process, and President Rawlings’ name is not on that list.”

The astute lawyer further stated that, at the time of filing the registration papers of the NDC at the Electoral Commission, the flight lieutenant was still a member of the Ghana Armed Forces, and per the electoral laws  Mr. Rawlings was ineligible to sign the party’s registration papers on behalf of any district unless he resigned.
