Sports minister wants artificial grass to cut down cost

"I thought that the grass was going to be much more of the contemporary artificial grass so that the expenditure will be low because natural grass maintenance is very high" - Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije

The multipurpose edifice which was completed earlier this year was planted with natural grass.

Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, a former boxing promoter and president of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation says the cost of maintaining natural grass is expensive, and wants the grasses changed to cut down cost.

"I thought that the grass was going to be much more of the contemporary artificial grass so that the expenditure will be low because natural grass maintenance is very high," the former Ghana Broadcasting Corporation sports journalist told GTV when he visited the stadium.

"So we have to think towards moving this grass in the near future and replanting or relaying carpet grass," he said.

The stadium will be inaugurated next month.
