Christian Atsu has congratulated Asamoah Gyan on reaching 50 goals for the Black Stars
Ghana and Newcastle United winger, Christian Atsu was full of praise for Asamoah Gyan after the Black Stars captain scored his 50th international goal last Sunday.
Gyan joined the league of established international stars to have reached the 50-goal mark after opening the scoring in Ghana’s 5-0 win over Ethiopia on Sunday.
The striker achieved the feat in just 103 appearances, making his goal-per-game ratio one of the best on the continent.
Having already beaten Abedi Ayew Pele’s record of goals to become Ghana’s all-time top-scorer, the on-loan Al Ahi striker reached another landmark after becoming just the SIX player from Africa to score 50 international goals – Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba are among that list.
The striker has received praise for his achievements so far, and international team-mate Christian Atsu has also added his voice.
The Newcastle United winger has described the Black Stars skipper as a blessing to Ghana, while also congratulating him for his latest haul.

Atsu wrote on his official Instagram account: “Congratulations for scoring 50 goals for the Ghana national team. Ghana top scorer, you are a blessing to us.”
Gyan is also Africa’s all-time top-scorer at the World Cup, boasting of 6 goals at the global showpiece.
