John Krasinski Would Very Much Like to Be Part of the MCU's New Fantastic Four
And it turns out, Krasinski already has some thoughts on where he might fit into the MCU: he is keen to try out for a role in the new version of the Fantastic Four, now that those characters' rights have reverted to Marvel.
"I would love to be in the Marvel universe," he recently told Total Film. "I love those movies because theyre fun, but I also think theyre really well done. And certainly a lot of my friends are in those movies. I have no idea what [Marvel] are thinking. But if they are considering me for Mr. Fantastic, continue to consider me because I would love it."
In the comics, Mr. Fantastic is the moniker of Reed Richards, a genius scientist with the ability to stretch and contort his body in all manner of ways. The other members of the Fantastic Four include Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
Right now, Krasinski is busy directing A Quiet Place Part II, in which he also stars alongside his real-life spouse Emily Blunt. But while he'd love to play Mr. Fantastic, he isn't quite ready to helm a Marvel movie. "Oh man, directing one of those things? I don't think I'm your guy," he said. "But if I was to act in one? I'd have so much fun."
Krasinski famously auditioned for the role of Captain America way back in the early days of the MCU, but the part went to Chris Evans. So, come on, Marvel. You've made the guy wait long enough.
