Millie Bobby Brown Didn't Rehearse for One Key 'Stranger Things' Scene

One of the most emotional moments of Stranger Things 3 came toward the end the season. After Hopper dies (although some fans think he's actually alive), Joyce, Will, and Eleven decide to move out of Hawkins. While packing up his stuff, Eleven finds a letter that he had previously written to her, and let's just say that we almost cried as hard as Eleven did when she read the letter.

It must have been a pretty emotional scene to act out, and most actors would have prepped for a while to get all the nuances worked out. But as Gizmodo reports, Millie Bobby Brown says that there was no prep involved at all. The actress told Entertainment Weekly that she actually didn't rehearse the scene, and her emotions were all real:

"They had prerecorded David [Harbour] and they played it out loud. I didn't want to read that speech. I didnt want to hear about it. I didn't want to rehearse it. I just immediately wanted to put a camera on me and find the way I react and the way I reacted was pure devastation and sadness, and a distraught child that just lost her father or so she thinks. So it was definitely a raw emotion, especially because David Harbour and I are really close. He is just one of the greatest men. I think something I admire about David is he respects girls and women so much. It felt so Im so gutted and I was like, 'Oh, my God, this is horrible.' So the emotions were raw in that scene for sure."

And if you felt like crying even more, Brown later posted an Instagram photo of a drawing of her and Harbour in character as Eleven and Hopper. In the drawing, Hopper lovingly places his hat on Eleven's head.

But instead of making the post too sad, Harbour hilariously commented back, "3 inches...pleeeeease...," a callback to Hopper asking Eleven and Mike to keep the bedroom door at least three inches open when they're together. Ah, dads. Always the same, even when they might be locked up in a Russian prison.
