Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr Randy Abbey, has clarified that he has not received any official communication from Eddie Nketiah, Callum Hudson-Odoi, or Francis Amuzu expressing a desire to represent Ghana, despite ongoing speculation in the media linking the trio to the national team.
The conversation around these players resurfaced following Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a crucial victory over Comoros earlier this month.
All three footballers were born abroad and are eligible to play for Ghana under FIFA nationality rules. Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi have represented England at various levels, while Amuzu has featured for Belgium at youth level.

Speaking in an interview on Sporty FM, Dr Abbey addressed the matter, saying:
Officially, I’m not aware of Eddie Nketiah showing interest in the Black Stars. It’s the same for Callum Hudson-Odoi and Francis Amuzu. I only read about it in the media.
Francis Amuzu, in particular, has had a complicated relationship with the Ghanaian national team setup.
He was first linked with a potential switch in 2022 but did not honour an invitation at the time, later clarifying that reports about his decision were misrepresented.

Recently, the Anderlecht winger reiterated that he remains open to representing Ghana, insisting his motivation goes beyond the allure of playing at the World Cup.
Amuzu said on Asempa FM.
If it's after the World Cup, it's also nice; I will be happy. It is a dream for me to play for the national team of Ghana. I know also that I have to perform well to get a call-up. If it [call-up] comes, good. If it doesn't come, I have to work harder.

Dr Abbey’s remarks suggest that, for now, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not received any official approach or documentation from the players or their representatives.
While media discussions about their possible inclusion persist, their national team futures remain undecided pending formal expressions of interest.
