The finale was held at the National Theatre and Uniformed Police officers were sighted at vantage points in the aisles and close to the stairs leading to the stage shortly after the end of the quiz and before the final scores were announced.
Another police officer was also seen holding the paper bag of Dr. Elsie Kauffman's paper bag which she used this year after her bag was stolen during the celebrations of last year's final.
Last year’s unfortunate incident of Dr. Kaufmann’s handbag getting missing after Prempeh College beat St Thomas Aquinas and Adisadel College to emerge winner of the 2017 contest was what triggered the tight security Dr. Kauffman is obviously prepared for everything possible as she was also seen handing the prize she equally received to an usher to be sent behind the stage.
