Sarkodie in 2019 has played it very safe not to be entangled in controversies by trying hard to stay out of trouble. Though he’s been quite successful at it, it wasn't that smooth because, among the positive headlines he made, some few negative ones also popped up.

The rapper at this year’s VGMAs was adjudged the Artiste Of The Decade at this year’s awards scheme. He beat competition from the likes of Shatta Wale, Becca, Samini, Stonebwoy among others.

Sarkodie in 2019, became the first Ghanaian based rapper who has won a BET Hip Hop Award. Nominated for the new category of “Best International Flow Act”, the rapper emerged the winner over the Falz, Nasty C, Tory Lanez among others.

Apart from grabbing headlines for historically winning the BET Hip Hop award, Sarkodie during his acceptance made an appealing request, entreating people with African root in the diaspora to visit Africa, particularly, Ghana. His speech drew attention which fetched him headlines.

Another big news for Sarkodie this year was when the Ministry of Creative Arts, Tourism and Culture, appointed him as an ambassador for its flagship “Year Of Return” campaign. Fans believe he got this role out of his acceptance speech at the BET Hip Hop Awards which went viral.

This year, Sarkodie also drove news portals crazy with some political insights he shared about the country’s governance. In one of Sark’s such comments, he called out Ghanaian Politicians for being selfish and leaving the Nation to rot with the masses facing hardship. King Sark even requested to meet the President but that never happened.

After complaining about hardship in Ghana, fans have been calling Sarkodie to drop a political song to adress the issues like he did when Ex-President Mahama was in power. Back , he then dropped "Inflation" and "The Masses", however Sarkodie this year announced that he is not going to do such songs again. According to him, he can't keep complaining about the same thing in new songs.

All eyes were on Sarkodie this year after Beyonce featured Shatta Wale on her “Lion King; The Gift” album. Sarkodie after Beyonce announced the tracklist of the album, shared a tweet congratulating her for the Africa inspired album. Shatta Wale was however not happy about his tweet and fired shots at him. Trolls also seized the moment to tease Sarkodie on social media.

The rapper this year staged a concert for his hood “This Is Tema” which chalked good remarks. Sark’s move was lauded by many following how the 3-day outreach crowned with a concert was successful.

Sarkodie announced that his new album titled “Black Love” will be out this year. He teased fans with singles from the album such as “Lucky” featuring King Rudy of P Square and “Saara” featuring Efya. Music lovers were hyped for Sark’s album but at the time of this publication, he never released it as expected.
