One of the influential figures who has expressed his disappointment about the skin-lightening product is afrobeats star Fuse ODG.

In a statement which calls for a boycott of the event, the “Antenna” hitmaker charged Nigerians to fight against the ‘self-hate agenda spreading across Africa’.

According to him, the narrative of what a real beauty is has nothing to do with bleaching. He said ‘we (Africans) are okay with our melanin’.

He captioned a screenshot of an invitation card Blac Chyna shared on her Instagram page, inviting her Nigerian fans to attend the event and purchase her skin-lightening product:

“Lagos, I hope you are NOT going to this!! It's time to fight against self-hate agendas in Africa. We are ok with our melanin and are changing the narrative of what real beauty is and it's certainly not bleaching our skin to be lighter...we must continue to love ourselves as Africans. Lots of love to my Nigerians always.”

Social media users have also criticised Chyna, forcing her to disable her comment box on her Instagram post.
