According to the artiste, though she recognises the support given her, it was evident other countries threw their weight behind their respective nominees at the time she got to the venue of the event, Los Angeles.

“I definitely had support from my true fans but there were people that didn’t agree with the situation but at the end of the day you cannot get everyone to be in the same boat with you. It’s like that in every aspect of life. That said, I would have wished people supported me much more because when I came to LA, other countries were supporting their people and I hope in the future Ghana will do more. But I think I got the support I needed from my true fans the ‘tip toers’. I’m happy with the turn out,” yfmghana.com quotes her to have said.

MzVee was nominated for Best International Act: Africa category alongside  Black Coffee (South Africa), AKA (South Africa), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Serge Beynaud (Cote D’ivoire), Wizkid (Nigeria) and Yemi Alade (Nigeria).

Black Coffee, South African record producer, artiste and DJ emerged winner of the category.

Meanwhile, MzVee has congratulated Black Coffee for his victory. The ‘Natural Girl’ posted a photograph she took with Black Coffee with the caption, “Congratulation, Black Coffee#tiptoe#BETAwards2016”.

MzVee is the first female artiste from Ghana to have been nominated for the BET Awards.
