Ras Kuuku has emerged the winner of this year's Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The category has consistently been one of the most competitive categories in the award scheme. Last year, the tension around the category saw Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy causing chaos at the show, a situation that has seen two acts banned indefinitely by the VGMA.

Regarding last year's fracas, Ras Kuuku after he was announced as the winner for the category this night decided to preach peace when he mounted the stage to receive his plaque. "last year by this time, this place was hot," he said.

Unhappy about the situation, he seized a moment to drop a freestyle to preach peace, reminding his colleagues that it shouldn't always be about 'beefing'. He beat competition from Samini, Jupitar, Epixode, AKA Songtress and J Derobie.
